2011 National HACC Conference

25 years of HACC - a time to think about the past, the present and the future

On 5-7 April 2011, the Australian Government and state and territory governments hosted the National HACC Conference – Innovation and Integration into the Future in Brisbane. Over 1,000 HACC service providers from across Australia attended the Conference.

One stream of the conference focused on National Health Reform, including the transition of basic community aged care services, the development of the new front end, and the aged care/disability interface. The keynote address, Aged Care Reforms – Future Directions, delivered by Tracy Mackey and Rachel Balmanno from the Department of Health and Ageing, was followed by four presentations on aged care reform:

The Conference was highly successful, particularly in bringing people involved in the delivery of aged care together nationally, providing an opportunity to showcase innovative practices and service delivery models that provided solutions to support consumers in their local communities.
