Osborne GP Network Consultation, Perth
On Thursday 21 January 2010, the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Mark Butler, held a roundtable discussion on health reform with the Osborne GP Network (OGPN) in Perth, Western Australia.
Attendees at the meeting included the Chief Executive Officer of the Osborne GP Network, Terina Grace; General Practitioners from the OGPN catchment area and OGPN staff. Dr Alistair Vickery, Chair of OGPN Board of Directors, chaired the consultation.
Significant issues discussed included:
- Perceived lack of health system reviews
- Analysing the cost effectiveness of models of health care
- Research and evaluation of health outcomes
- Relieving the burden on emergency departments
- GP education
- New Medicare items enabling longer patient consultations
- GP Super Clinics
- GP recruitment, retention and remuneration.
