Cloncurry
The Minister for Indigenous Health, Rural and Regional Health and Regional Services Delivery, Warren Snowdon, held a roundtable discussion on health reform at Cloncurry in Northern Queensland on Wednesday 27 January 2010.
Attendees included GPs and other healthcare professionals from the Cloncurry Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre and representatives from the local council.
Significant topics discussed included:
- The challenges associated with recruiting doctors in remote communities
- Supplying effective medical and pharmaceutical services to Indigenous people in remote areas
- The provision of specialist services, such as obstetrics, to people in remote locations.
Minister Snowdon toured the Cloncurry Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre before the roundtable.
